Axel Kohler was first exposed to the world of fashion when he decided to pursue an apprenticeship as a teenager with an established bespoke tailor. He came face to face with what men wanted to wear. This opened his eyes to the transformative power of clothing and quickly became his passion. He started designing his own clothing, working with denim, wool, and Savile Row fabrics, deconstructing the very principles he learned. He went on to work for a womenswear designer. There he acquired a different perspective by virtue of change in materiality and proportion. In the recent past, Kohler has been commissioned to create sculptures, custom garments, and wardrobe for film. In all of these pursuits, he has been delving further into his own world. Through this he has been building a fantasy for men.
