Beaufille was founded by sisters Chloe and Parris Gordon in 2013. After completing their degrees at NSCAD University in Textile and Fashion Design, and Jewelry Design and Metalsmithing, the girls combined these disciplines to create an artisanal ready-to-wear and accessories line. The name Beaufille translates to ‘handsome girl’, channeling the brand’s aesthetic and designs which focus on the play between masculine and feminine elements, the combination of hard and soft. From sketch to sample, all Beaufille products are made in Canada in the company’s downtown Toronto studio. The sisters’ mother Eve is involved as a fine artist, creating all prints and artwork seen in the collections by hand.
Beaufille has an international presence and is currently stocked in Toronto, New York, Los Angeles, and Cairo. The brand has been featured by industry leading publications and media outlets such as Marie Claire, Style.com, Refinery29, Teen Vogue, Nylon Magazine, Women’s Wear Daily, Elle, Flare, and FASHION Magazine. The brand has dressed celebrities such as Langley Fox, Jessica Szoher, Chantelle Winnie, and Dakota Johnson. The brand demonstrated high traction in the North American market as part of GenArt’s “Fresh Faces in Fashion” show during New York Fashion week, September 2012 (alumni of the show include Zac Posen, Rebecca Taylor, and Rodarte).
Beaufille has been nominated twice for the Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent, Fashion at the CAFA awards in 2014 and 2015 and won the Swarovksi Award for Emerging Talent, Accessories in 2015.
